Lessons
Liberty Ridge offers instruction from well-qualified instructors for all riding levels. Our facility has a more small barn feel as the majority of our equines are either privately owned or leased by clients. Our facility is geared towards the horse owner and clients looking to ride multiple times a week.
Riding lessons are offered in group and private sessions. Both mounted and unmounted sessions are offered to provide students with the best understanding of all equine aspects.
Our program is a bit different than a traditional lesson program as the majority of our riders either lease or own their horses. We feel that by being able to ride multiple days a week, it allows a rider to truly progress in the sport. While we do have very limited availability of horses available for weekly lessons, we encourage riders to have a goal of partial/full leasing.
Meet the Liberty Ridge Training Team!
Jennifer Tabisz
"Owner, Head Instructor/Trainer"
Jennifer Tabisz has over 30 years of riding and equestrian experience. As a junior, Jennifer actively and successfully competed in the 3' equitation, children's hunters, and the High C/A jumpers divisions at rated shows throughout the region. In 1998, Jennifer qualified for the Children's Jumper Prix at Penn National in Harrisburg PA, finishing overall 6th in the country in point standings. Jennifer also won the Capital Challenge Children's Jumper Prix that same year. Jennifer graduated in 2004 from Virginia Intermont College with a B.S. in Equine Science where she learned invaluable knowledge, skills, and techniques both through mounted and classroom sessions. Competing on the Intercollegiate Horse Show Association circuit, Jennifer qualified for IHSA Nationals both as a Junior, placing 2nd in the intermediate division, and as a Senior, placing 1st in flat and 5th over fences. Her and her team went on to win IHSA Nationals in 2004.
While at Virginia Intermont College, Jennifer also had the opportunity to compete both in Switzerland and Belgium, representing the United States in the International Student Riding Association. After graduating college, Jennifer began her professional equestrian career, operating at various facilities in Maryland and New Hampshire, coaching clients in the hunter/jumper and equitation disciplines. Jennifer also continued her education and obtained a Masters of Science degree in Environmental Science from Towson University in 2011. To continue her professional credentials, she has also started her judge's certification.
Jennifer has built her program around the ideas and teachings of her childhood trainer, Mehdi Kazemi. Mehdi focused on the positives of each horse and rider combination by providing individualized attention and creating a path where both horse and rider were able to succeed. He believed in the quality of his product and showed great joy in being able help both horse and rider achieve their goals. Mehdi placed much focus on horsemanship, sportsmanship, and the overall communication between the horse and rider. Jennifer rode with Mehdi for almost a decade where she was able to experience the true idea of what it means to be a horseman. Jennifer strives to be able to provide a similar experience to her clients as it has shaped her riding career and her program into what it is today.
Currently, Jennifer is looking forward to a successful jumper show season with her students as well as her personal horses George W.
Jennifer has been fortunate to have studied under other trainers - Eddie Federswich, Bob Crandall, Thom Pollard, Nancy Ashway (Faulkner), and Jill Windsor. Jennifer currently continues her training with numerous professionals in the area including Tracy Magness and Manuel Torres.

*** Cancellation and Lesson Policy ***
We understand that circumstances will arise that will result in an unanticipated lesson cancellation. However, because the current lesson schedule is full and lesson fees support the horses’ care, we are now requesting that riders provide their instructors notice that they will be canceling lessons with enough notice so that another rider may be scheduled in the open slot. ALL CANCELLATIONS REQUIRE 24 HOURS NOTICE. If 24 hours notice is not given, riders forfeit the lesson.
In the event that a make up lesson is required, riders have the option of joining any available lesson within their skill level. If a lesson make-up has less riders than the originally weekly lesson, the rider will be charged the difference. Example: weekly group lesson package purchased at $55/lesson; private make up lesson occurs at $75/lesson; rider is responsible for the $20 upcharge in lesson price.
If a cancellation occurs, the rider has 90 days to re-schedule the lesson. Unused lessons may not be applied as credits towards the next month's lesson package.
